Home Energy Audits
Comfort Home Expert LLC is is one of the best experts in energy conservation in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas. There is no best way to conserve energy. It depends on a variety of factors, including the age and type of your home, the amount and type of insulation you have, your family’s habits and needs, as well as the type of heating, cooling, and water heater equipment you have in your home.
Two seemingly identical homes that are right next door to each other could have different energy usage needs, so the first step to determine how we can help you conserve is an energy assessment (or energy audit).
The first step of the assessment is to evaluate your energy bills to determine how much energy you use and then we can discuss your energy usage habits and any issues you may have.
We then perform a detailed inspection of the home including the following:
- Evaluate insulation levels in walls, ceilings, and floors.
- Identify areas where air leakage could be present.
- Evaluate furnace for efficiency and safe operation.
- Evaluate water heater for efficiency and safe operation.
- Inspect air conditioner for efficiency.
- Evaluate windows condition and efficiency.
- Evaluate home for any moisture/air quality issues.
- Inspect exhaust fans and dryer for proper operation and ventilation.
- Point out any inefficient lighting or appliances.
After we have gathered all this information, we analyze it to see where you can potentially save energy, keeping the health and safety of the occupants in mind before recommending energy-savings measures. Your home is a unique system and changing just one aspect of it without considering what effect that change will impact the home as a whole could be detrimental. So make sure any contractor you consider hiring takes the same precautions before allowing them to make any changes to your home.
After we have analyzed your particular needs, we model your home’s energy usage in a computer modeling system endorsed by the state of Oklahoma to determine how much you could save on your energy bills. This computer model is based off of your utility bills and your home’s actual size, insulation levels, air leakage, and mechanical systems.
We will prioritize what improvements you should make based off any comfort concerns you may have and the energy savings that can be achieved. We will also provide you with options as to what would be best for you and your family.
If you decide to move ahead with a comprehensive energy conservation project that is modeled to save enough energy to qualify for the Oklahoma Clean Energy Program’s Home Performance with Energy STAR Program, you could be eligible for up to $4,170 in rebates and 3 years 0% financing.
